The weather outside is frightful......

This weekend was a very Santa filled one. Turkey and me were in the grocery store on Saturday and ran into Santa. She was very excited, she actually touched his arm! She is getting a little better about him every time we see him. She asked me why Santa was at the grocery store and I informed her he must be checking up on her to make sure she is being good. She was excellent during our shopping adventure! We had to say good bye to Santa before we left. She was so happy about him being there.
Sunday morning she was up bright and early because Santa was coming to church. I love that she is so excited about church every week. The last few weeks have been full of excitement because she has been helping light the advent candles. She has also being helping in different times in church. We are finally getting the church thing down. She sits quietly and draws on her white board. When we sing she grabs a board book and pretends that it is a song book. This last Sunday was different. There was a lot of excitement because of Santa and there were tons of kids at church. Holy cow! My sanity got tested to the max. After we finally made it through church we went downstairs to eat lunch and wait for Santa.
When Santa finally arrived Turkey bolted to the door and was yelling "Santa!!!" She was so excited. When he called her up she sat in a chair next to him and was very sweet. She is pretty consistent on what she wants from Santa. She asked for a pink puppy, a watch and an iPad. If she keeps being good then maybe Santa can get the first two. I love that she wants an iPad. I blame my brother for that one. When my grandmother had passed away my brother brought his iPad with him to dinner so Turkey could play with it. She has wanted one ever since. She thinks anything my brother has is the coolest thing in the world.
Our tree is full of presents and Turkey has been pretty good about leaving them alone. James on the other hand has to shake them and tries to figure out what ones are his. I have decided not to put name tags on the presents and I have just wrapped Turkey and James in different paper so I know who gets what. I love being sneaky!
Lately our weather has been cold and snowy. Last week we had some days where they issued no travel advisories. Which means we can't leave city limits. On Monday we woke up to about 6 inches of snow. James went to work and about 4 hours later he was back home because they couldn't get to the rigs. It was another no travel day. We ended up getting over a foot and half of snow. We didn't leave the house all day. James went out to shovel and Turkey and me decided to suit up and go play in the snow. It was a ton of fun and just what we needed. We made a mini snow cave, made snow angels, made places to sit. I decided to sit on the biggest pile of snow and told Turkey I was queen, she went to James and informed him that mommy is queen and she is the princess so he needs to not shovel anymore and to come play with us. We had a ball in the snow. It was enough to get everyone ready for a nap. It was nice having James home for a day. We are keeping our fingers crossed he will be home for Christmas. So far he is working Christmas. The snow has put them a little behind. I guess this will be the year of new traditions. If he ends up having to work, Turkey and me might open a present or two and then go to church. And we will open the rest when he gets home that night. Who knows!
I hope everyone has a great holiday and gets to spend it with friends and family. Travel safe!
